Elder Jones was born in Calvert County, Maryland, to Horace Parker and Lena Mae Jones. His grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Rudolph Jones Sr. also played a significant role in his rearing. However, throughout is youth, and into adulthood, Elder Jones
was always into some type of trouble. He was “strung-out on drugs, alcohol, fornication, and adultery, lying, stealing; a whole host of sins” for many years. He often tells how when the police came looking for him, his grandmother brought the police right
into his room and said, “Here he is”. This let him know that his grandmother wasn’t about to sin for anyone. In 1990, Elder Jones was sentenced to 3 years in prison. He says, he remembers crying as David exclaims in Psalm 34:6, “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles”. From the Calvert County Detention Center to Baltimore Diagnostics Center he cried, “Lord, I
know I going to do my time, but I just don’t want to come home the same way that I’m leaving.” His testimony is that two weeks after he got into the prison system, a minister came on the tier preaching the Word of God. In this prison, the inmates were locked down 24 hours per day and allowed out of
their cells every other day to shower, and for 30 minutes of free time. He could have chosen to watch TV
or engage in some other activity, but chose to listen to the preacher. Like Moses, according to Hebrews
11:25, “Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season”. On that day, at the age of 29, Elder Jones accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Elder Jones talks of how diligently he sought God while in prison; reading the Word and praying daily, and how he even had bible studies with other inmates. He often talks of how he listened to the voice of
the Lord in every situation and still does. Elder Jones was sentenced to 3 years, but God shortened his
time and brought him home in 13 months. He purposed in his heart that, “I’m going to that same church
my grandmother goes to, because I’ve never seen her do anything wrong.”
After being released from prison, in 1991, Elder Jones came and joined the Church of God at Lothian, Maryland. After hearing a message from the late Bishop George W. Hawkins Sr. entitled, “Drop the net”, Elder Jones made up his mind to let nothing come between his soul and his Savior. Elder Jones began to raise his boys in righteousness. After seeing his life in Christ unspotted from the world, his wife, Pamela, decided to give her life to Christ. Further, in 1994, the Lord sent Elder Jones to his mother’s home with a Word from the Lord. Shortly thereafter, his mother accepted Christ into her life. In 1993, Elder Jones heard the call of the Lord, “I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore, thou shalt hear the Word at my mouth, and warn them from me.” In 1995, Elder Jones
accepted this commission and was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the souls of men, women, and children. Later, in 2005, Elder Jones was ordained to preach by Bishop George W. Hawkins Sr. In 2008, as the Bishop Hawkins’ health began to fail, Elder Jones acted as Pastor of the Church of God at Lothian, Maryland until his passing in September 2008. Now, 30 years after accepting Christ, and more than 25 years of preaching the gospel, Elder Jones remains faithful to his calling and to the Lord,
“Holding fast the confidence and rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end”, standing ‘flat-footed’ on the Word of God not wavering to the right or the left. He is Pastor of the Faith Believing Church of God. There, with the help of his wife of 38 years, Pamela, and the congregation, he continues the great work of getting the gospel to as many as are within the Lords’ reach. Elder Jones and his wife,
Pamela, have two sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and five amazing grandchildren.

Elder Quentin Jones Jr., affectionately known to many as “Q” or “QJ,” was raised in Calvert County, Maryland by his parents Elder Quentin Jones Sr. and Sister Pamela Jones. As a child
Elder Jones was full of mischief and fell into some situations that could have left him as a statistic in our broken society. “But God, who is rich in mercy,” reached into that pit, and at the
age of 13, Elder Jones found himself on his knees, broken, confessing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and later gave his hand to Pastor George W. Hawkins, Sr. but his heart to God, becoming a member of the Church of God at Lothian, Maryland.
Since that time, his heart has been captivated by the power and presence of God's grace and mercy over his life. Elder Jones, since his youth, has been involved in nearly every aspect of the
church. He has served as an usher, choir member, and member of the Youth, Evangelism, Prison, Special Events, and Men’s ministries. In 2006, Elder Jones was appointed to the office of deacon under the leadership of the late Bishop George W. Hawkins Sr. He served in that capacity for over 10 years, partly while running from his calling into the gospel ministry. During that time, Pastor Derek Hawkins Sr. appointed him to lead the church’s youth ministry. Understanding the significance of his decision to accept Christ at a young age, he is passionate
about encouraging all youth to receive salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ and to embrace their new identity found in Him (1 Peter 2:9). Later, in March 2017, after running for many years, Elder Jones accepted the calling that he had been avoiding, as was appointed as an Elder under the leadership of Pastor Derek Hawkins Sr.
Like Isaiah, he felt unworthy; like Jeremiah, he felt unequipped; and like Amos, he felt insignificant. But God’s words remind him daily that the call is not about him, it is about God’s glory. Elder Jones enjoys all aspects of ministry, especially ministering God’s word and serving the youth of the Church of God. He is committed to the foundation laid by the apostles, whereas “she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, and he shall save his people from their sins.” Elder Jones has been married to his awesome wife, Erica, for 20 years. They have four beautiful children. Elder Jones obtained his bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from University of Maryland University
College in 2018, and obtained a MDiv in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University in 2020.
To God be the Glory for the things he has done!
